Columbus Monument

The 200 foot tall Columbus Monument was erected in 1888 for the Barcelona World's Fair.  It was built in honor of Christopher Columbus.

Columbus returned to Barcelona after his historic transatlantic voyage to North America in 1492.

Visitors can ride a small elevator to the top of the structure and enjoy a spectacular view of Barcelona.  Unfortunately, there is often a long wait for the lift, so it's a good idea to arrive early.

The Columbus Monument is one of Barcelona's most famous landmarks and should not be missed.
